Girls Lacrosse: The girls lacrosse team begins this season in a new division, 2A, which is the highest level of lacrosse in the state. As such, the team’s schedule has considerably increased in difficulty; the team will play some of the larger and more competitive schools in Indiana. Still, the girls have had a successful start to their season. On March 10, both the JV and varsity teams prevailed over Warren Central (JV 8-0 and varsity 14-5). The varsity team was led by junior Lauren Richer, who scored 9 goals in the game. Against Cathedral on March 13, the JV fell in a close one, 6-5, and the varsity was defeated 14-4. On Tuesday, the varsity team lost to Heritage Christian 19-6. Tonight, both teams are back in action against Bishop Chatard at home - JV at 6:00 p.m. and varsity at 7:30. Come out and support the team!
Boys Lacrosse: The boys lacrosse team started the season 1-0 with a 15-8 victory over Marian (Mishawaka) on Saturday. Leading the Panthers in scoring were senior captains Ethan Cline (6 goals, 1 assist) and Charlie Held (5 goals, 1 assist). Cline scooped up 8 ground balls, which also led the team. Junior goalie Adam Wilkerson (6 saves) logged his first career win in his first career start. Aden Hawkins was awarded the game ball for an outstanding performance on defense, in transition, and on ground balls just days after having his appendix removed. The team continues play with another Saturday game this week, hosting Libertyville (IL) at 11:00. Next week, the team travels to Bishop Chatard on Tuesday night and hosts Fishers on Thursday night.
