Order in the Court Students Perform Mock Trial
Upper School History teacher Joe Fumusa's 'Order in the Court' Afterschool Exploration class performed the Tinker vs. Des Moines (1969) case—a famous, symbolic freedom of speech protest by students wearing black armbands during the Vietnam War era in school. Presiding over the case was Marion County Superior Court Judge Hon. Christina R. Klineman. Lower and Middle School students acted on both sides of the trial, and faculty members, students, and alums played the role of jurors.
